The Vanderbilt Cup

The William K. Vanderbilt II Memorial Cup Race was established by Centerport Yacht Club Past Commodore Albert P. Rosanes in 1981 in conjunction with the Vanderbilt Museum in honor of one of Centerport’s most famous resident yachtsmen.

The Vanderbilt Cup traditionally includes PHRF Spinnaker & Non-Spinnaker Classes, One-Design and Club Class divisions, with time allowances per YRALIS PHRF time-on-distance procedures using distance handicaps. (For more details, please see the Sailing Instructions.) Navigator’s style courses finish in Northport Bay with a glorious view of "Eagle's Nest," Vanderbilt’s stunning Spanish Revival mansion and Gold Coast retreat.

Racers and guests are then invited to the mansion for the Regatta Party to enjoy food, drinks and live music in Vanderbilt's Spanish courtyard.

CYC's Vanderbilt Cup is a qualifier for the Yacht Racing Association of Long Island Sound (YRALIS) Fall, Gitana, Sappho, Competitors, Kings Point and Mertz Trophies and also for the YRALIS Youth Challenge Cup.
